Smithsonian Folklife Festival

The National Mall is host to the 33rd annual Smithsonian Folklife Festival. This year the popular event focuses on the cultures of New Hampshire, Romania and South Africa with live entertainment, crafts and food. It runs from June 23rd to June   27th, and then again from June 30th to July 4th. This event becomes more popular every year.

The MCI National Sports Gallery

is a 25,000 Sq. ft gallery Nationlal Sports Gallery located inside the new MCI Center. Featuring the latest in sports entertainment, visitors can participate in numerous sports skills games and competitions.

 

       

The Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial

A pretty 7.5-acre site dedicated to the 32nd President. Huge red granite walls create open-air rooms containing sculptures, reflecting pools and waterfalls. A short walk from the JeffersonFranklin Delano  Roosevelt Memorial Memorial, the FDR Memorial offers benches near a tree-lined walkway to rest weary feet.

Arlington National Cemetery

has Washington's newest memorial, the Women in Military Service for America Memorial. This modern memorial includes a computerized registry of photos, artifacts  and anecdotes compiled from military women.  Memorials like the Iwo Jima Memorial and the Kennedy Graves are also at Arlington.
