For Performing Arts
With six stages, two restaurants and
gift shops, the JFK Center for the Performing Arts is constantly buzzing
with activities. Look for the JFK Center's open house this summer
featuring free concerts, shows and activities.
Home to the Washington Wizards, Capitals and
Mystic - this new addition to the downtown DC area is a marvelous place
to catch a game. In addition to the National Sports Gallery and the
Discovery Channel superstore, visitors can take a tour of the arena's
facilities including the players' locker rooms and arena floor.
National Sports Gallery
The MCI National
Sports Gallery (in the MCI Center) features interactive games and skills
activities as well as an impressive collection of sports memorabilia.
Play one on one vs. your favorite NBA star in the "Virtual Reality
National Geographic Society
The National Geographic Society is filled with
interesting interactive games and activities. Completely free of charge,
visitors can view exhibits in the Explorers Hall, Geographica or Earth
Station One, the 72- seat amphitheater.
April through October, National Park Rangers dress in 19th
century clothing and lead tours down the canal on mule-drawn barges. A
huge hit with children, Rangers tell stories and answer questions on
life during the 1900ís.
The National Aquarium is the first public
Aquarium ever built in America. Located across the Ellipse on
Constitution Ave., it is only a five minute walk from the White House.
Hard Rock Cafe
Dedicated to serving up some tasty fare with a
rock-n-roll atmosphere. Known around the world for their collection of
Owned by some of Hollywood's most fascinating (famous)
people. This restaurant delivers good food and sensory overload for
D.C. Convention Center
