One of the most popular attractions in Washington, the FBI Headquarters gives you an
inside peak at the latest crime fighting techniques. The 72-minute tours are given
weekdays from 8:45 4:15, and are free of charge.
The tour begins with a film on the history and current responsibilities of the Federal
Bureau of Investigation. It then
moves on to view the numerous exhibits describing modern
crime fighting techniques and the role the FBI plays in combating terrorism, organized
crime and other illegal activities. One can even see the current list of the FBIs
"10 Most Wanted Criminals". The tour also includes the crime labs where evidence
is carefully examined and catalogued. The highlight of the tour for most people is where a
special agent gives a live-ammo sharp-shooting demonstration.
The tour is extremely popular with kids, but the live fire demonstration is often too
harrowing for toddlers and young children. The only other detraction from the tour is the
potential wait. Lines form early and the wait can reach up to four hours, but the tour
shouldnt be missed if you have time.
