John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts

This immense building on the Potomac houses the National Symphony Orchestra, the Washington Opera and the American Film Institute. The JFK Center for the Performing Arts often offers free shows in addition to its gift shops, restaurants and great vistas.

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts is the cultural center of Washington. Its six stages host some of the world’s great artists and virtuosos, as well as Washington’s renowned Ballet and Opera companies. The center is also the home of the American Film Institute and National Symphony Orchestra.

However, The JFK Center is not only for adults. Plays, concerts and storytelling intended for toddlers through high school-aged children are performed regularly.
