The National Museum of American History is often
the first stop on the museum trail, so it's easy to make a couple of novice mistakes. The
first tip is to take your time - the museum attempts to encapsulate all facets of
American life, so the numerous displays are easy to miss.
The Hands On History and Hands On Science programs
are sure-fire hits with the kids. Anticipate a crowd.
Avoid the food court located on the lower level.
The food is unremarkable and overpriced.
Get your momentos at the museum shop also located
on the lower level. It is the largest of the Smithsonian stores.
