to 05-04-02
Appearing In: Unspecified

See the best news photos from 2000 as selected in the 58th Annual Pictures of the Year competition, sponsored by the National Press Photographers Association/Missouri School of Journalism. The award-winning photos are exhibited in the News History Gallery on a large-screen digital display that shows each of the images in rotation.

Additional exhibits are planned for late 2001, including a major exhibit that examines how film and television representations of journalists - from 'Citizen Kane' to 'Murphy Brown' - have influenced and been influenced by public perceptions of the media.

The Newseum, located at 1101 Wilson Blvd., Arlington, Va., is open Tuesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free. The $50 million, 72,000-square-foot Newseum is funded by The Freedom Forum, a nonpartisan, international foundation dedicated to free press, free speech and free spirit for all people. For more information, call 703/284-3544 or 888/NEWSEUM (toll free).
